This year, a record number of Ukrainian universities have been included in the international SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025. As IZ reports with reference to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 61 higher education institutions from different regions of the country have been included. In total, the ranking covers almost 10 thousand scientific institutions in the world, of which more than 5 thousand are universities.
The ranking is based on data from the Scopus scientometric database and takes into account three key criteria: research efficiency, innovative developments, and social impact. Among the best Ukrainian universities are Sumy State University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Lviv Polytechnic University, and other leading institutions of the country.
This year, the ranking methodology was expanded by adding three new indicators: contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the level of women's involvement in research processes, and the impact of scientific developments on public policy. This allowed Ukrainian universities to demonstrate even better results at the international level.
Recall that we previously wrote that the US would not resume aid to Ukraine after the minerals agreement.
