Newcastle beat Liverpool to win first trophy in 70 years

Newcastle United stunned Liverpool 2-1 in the League Cup final on Saturday. Eddie Howe's side took the lead before half-time through Dan Burn, before Alexander Isak doubled their lead early in the second half. Liverpool responded with a last-gasp strike from Federico Chiesa, but it was not enough to salvage a point.

The League Cup final at Wembley ended with a surprise victory for Newcastle. The team showed a confident game, leaving Liverpool no chance of winning the trophy. Despite a late goal by Chiesa, the Magpies held on and became the first owners of the Cup in 70 years, achieving a historic victory.

The match was a pivotal moment for Newcastle, who won their first trophy since 1955. The team displayed high levels of organisation and attacking efficiency, while Liverpool, for their part, failed to find a way to victory, suffering yet another setback of the season.

Recall, we previously wrote that Mbappe set a new record in his debut season for Real Madrid.
