Air pollution in Zaporizhia: exceeding the norms on Shkilna Street

In Zaporizhia, an excess of pollutants in the atmospheric air was recorded, in particular, in the residential area of the Oleksandrivskyi district. Atmospheric air monitoring was carried out in the northwestern direction of the emission flare, in particular along Kosmichna and Shkilna streets. As part of the research, concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, formaldehyde, ammonia and other harmful substances were measured, IZ writes.

According to the Zaporizhia Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), excess concentrations of hydrogen sulfide and formaldehyde were detected on Shkilna Street near house No. 40. In particular, the hydrogen sulfide level is 0.0118 mg/m³, which is 1.48 times higher than the established maximum permissible concentration (MPC), and the formaldehyde level is 0.04 mg/m³, which is 1.14 times higher than the MPC.

According to the information, laboratory results of atmospheric air research have been sent to relevant organizations to take necessary measures to reduce pollution levels. Local authorities and environmental services will continue to monitor the air situation.
