Extradition of scandalous Kyiv developer Anatoly Voitsekhovsky from Spain

On March 18, 2025, Ukraine received the extradition of scandalous Kyiv developer Anatoly Voitsekhovsky, who is suspected of defrauding investors on more than 42 new buildings in Kyiv and illegally demolishing state-owned real estate. Voitsekhovsky was detained in Spain and handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement officers at the Krakivets-Korchova checkpoint in the Lviv region, IZ writes.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the man has been wanted since May 2020. He is accused of organizing the embezzlement of other people's property through the actions of the director of one of the enterprises under his control, as well as the illegal demolition of a non-residential building on Petropavlivska Street in Kyiv, which belonged to the state institute “State Research and Design Institute of Innovative Technologies in Energy and Energy Saving.”

In 2016, Voitsekhovsky was suspected of organizing illegal construction on the street. At that time, he was charged with intentional tax evasion in the amount of UAH 12.5 million, creating a criminal group to illegally seize land in Kyiv, and misappropriating funds from investors in the construction of the Perlyna Troeschyna residential complex.

It is known that investors in this project are still unable to register ownership of their apartments and connect to utility networks. Problems with electricity and water supply have become commonplace for residents of the facilities, and some high-rise buildings even use firewood for heating.

Since his arrest in 2016, Wojciechowski fled to Russia, posting a bail of 14 million UAH. However, after many years of searching, he was detained in Spain and extradited to Ukraine.

The suspect is considered the main figure in the construction pyramid, which unites the companies “UKO-group” and “City-group”. Most of the objects that were associated with his companies were illegal and unfinished at the time of the arrest. These include the well-known Kyiv residential complexes “Eastern Gate”, “Scientific”, “Flagman”, “Mega City”, “Mosaika”, “Sovski Stavky”, “Youth Initiative”, “Margarita”, “Synyozerny”, “Kuzminsky” and “Southern Quarter”.

Wojciechowski is currently being held in custody and can post bail for further house arrest. The trial is ongoing.

We remind you that we previously wrote that Ukraine returned 197 defenders from Russian captivity.
