Precipitation saturated with desert dust is expected in the southwest of the country, IZ.com.ua reports, citing Bild.de.
The German weather service has reported an unusual weather phenomenon that is forecast for the southwest of the country this weekend – the so-called “blood rain”. According to forecasters, this is rainfall containing particles of dust brought from the Sahara. Because of this, the sky is already taking on a yellowish hue, and cars are covered in a characteristic layer of sand.
“This kind of rain will be especially noticeable on cars,” said a weather service representative, warning drivers of possible damage to paintwork. Experts advise avoiding washing cars before precipitation, as small dust particles can scratch the surface.
The first signs of “blood rain” have already been recorded – in a number of regions the sky has changed its usual color, acquiring yellow and orange tones. The bulk of the precipitation is expected today in the state of Baden-Württemberg. At the same time, forecasters note that the exact scale of the phenomenon is currently difficult to predict.
Thunderstorms are also possible due to the mixing of air masses. According to forecasts, by Sunday the dust will either be washed away by rain or carried away by the wind. Meteorologists urge residents to be careful, monitor forecast updates and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities if possible.
