Taiwan is becoming a key signal for the United States: the Pentagon is changing the military strategy and is preparing for a possible conflict with China, and Europe will have to defend itself against Russia.
RBC-Ukraine reported this to The Washington Post.
In the middle of the pandemic, the Pentagon circulated a document marked “secret” signed by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and entitled “Temporary Strategic Directions for National Defense.” This is the implementation of President Donald Trump's concept of preparing for and defeating a potential war with China and protecting the United States from threats from “near foreign countries,” such as Greenland and the Panama Canal.
The document states that, based on personnel and resource allocations, the Ministry of Defense “will take on the risk in other theaters of military operations.” The policy of putting pressure on allies in Europe is being transferred, at the Near Descent of Asia, so that they spend more money on defense and take on the main role in the face of threats from the side of Russia, Southern Korea and Iran.
According to data, Hegseth's memorandum names China's massive invasion of Taiwan as a blame scenario with priority, equaled with other threats.
Apparently, in the National Defense Strategy until 2022, the administration of former US President Joe Biden placed priority on alliances against Russian aggression. According to Hegset’s Concept, NATO may take on a “much larger” division of the tractor to protect the European countries from Russia, and the United States will not supply troops through concentration in other regions of the world.
The document states that Europe’s increased participation in the defense team “also guarantees that NATO can reliably stream or overcome Russian aggression, whereas streaming does not “to give up, and the Acquired States are already planning or trying to exert force to stir up the primary conflict in another region.”
Confused document and clone Heritage Foundation
The memorandum of former transfers to the National Security Committees of Congress, where the Republican Democrats called him confused. The document calls for recognition of the presence in most parts of the world, except for the Close Gathering, while the Trump administration has focused on demonstrating violent force and streaming the Houthis into Yemeni, as well as pressure on Iran.
“There is a real tension between “We want American power and military dominance in the world” and “We want it across the board,” the congressman told the NYT after reviewing the document.
Vidannya also indicated that he agreed to the memorandum to become nine sides. The activities from this project are similar to the previous report of the Heritage Foundation for 2024, and the activities from them are almost identical. One of the authors of the report is Alexander Velez-Green, who is urgently resolving the obligations of a high-ranking political official to the Pentagon.
According to a recent report from the Heritage Foundation, the Pentagon is recommended to prioritize three main priorities: pursuing an invasion of Taiwan, defending the country, and increasing the distribution of power between allies and partners, as well as listed in Hegseth's memorandum.
The congressman told reporters that the Capitol Hill activists had written that a conservative think tank had added to the document.
The Pentagon's new policy to “defense the defense” provides Taiwan with an increased military presence in addition to submarines, bombers, unmanned ships and special units armies and marines, as well as a greater emphasis on bombs that would strengthen underground targets.
The plan also includes increased defenses around the deployment of American troops in the Indo-Pacific region, the build-up of reserves at forward positions and increased logistics.
Taiwan Factor
While pushing forward with the Chinese attack on Taiwan, the document also calls for “pressure” on Taipei to “dramatically increase” its defense spending. Trump and his allies have criticized Taiwan for not investing enough in government defense, calling on the self-motivated democratic island to spend up to 10% of its GDP on military readiness – a proportion that significantly outweighs the spending of the United States and its allies on defense
Vidannya guessed that from the moment he entered the landing, Trump was complaining about the food supply and would allow the US to Beijing want to take the island by force.
Two people familiar with the official negotiations in Taiwan said the Taipei government is trying to improve the deal with the new US administration in the face of growing doubts in Washington, such as strengthened after the disastrous lute war in the Oval Office of Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Last year, Taiwan President Lai Chinte said that as part of a major overhaul of military infrastructure, the country would increase its defense spending from about 2.5% to over 3% of GDP to appease Washington. In conclusion, China released the ships and placed the ships around the island, anticipating that “those who play with fire will take care.”
In addition, the document orders military leaders to ensure access to the Panama Canal and play a greater role in the fight against drug trafficking, the protection of cordons and deportations, which ensures the implementation of Ministry of Internal Security.
The memorandum also calls for the expansion of US nuclear forces and national missile defense beyond the Golden Dome system to protect against long-range missiles.
Transformations at the US Department of Defense
Apparently, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum about reducing the number of civilian personnel in the Pentagon. It is planned to increase from 5% to 8% of servicemen of this rank.
Just recently, Gegset punished the plan to cut the US defense budget into five rocks.
Nowadays, Great Britain and France are calling for the necessary support of the United States in the embattled army in Ukraine within the framework of the so-called “Coalition of the Wanted.”
