Zaluzhny commented on rumors about participation in the presidential elections of Ukraine

Valery Zaluzhny, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has dispelled rumors about his possible participation in the upcoming presidential elections. After some sources reported on the general's possible political ambitions, he decided to give a clear explanation. As IZ reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine, Zaluzhny stated that his main goal at the moment is to work on preserving Ukraine during the war, and not to participate in the political race.

My answer to this has not changed. While the war is ongoing, we all need to work to save the country, and not think about the elections. I do not comment on various rumors ,” the former general said.

Despite his high approval rating and numerous speculations about his possible participation in the presidential elections, Zaluzhny remains out of the political race. Some of his close colleagues express different opinions about his future plans, but he himself assures that he has no intention of changing his course.

Currently, Zaluzhny is building a career as a diplomat, in particular, as Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom, and continues to avoid political speculation surrounding his name.
