Shakhtar Donetsk’s head coach, Arda Turan, commented on his team’s victory in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League qualification round against Beşiktaş, where the “miners” secured a 2-0 win, reports Baltimore Chronicle. “The start of the match was somewhat cautious on our part, possibly due to the instinct of wanting to preserve the advantage from the first game. I had mentioned before that it would be psychologically difficult, and that proved to be the case. We followed our plan, and that’s how we managed to score the goals. In the second half, we controlled the ball well. I’m very pleased with the results, considering the energy of the players and their attitude on the field. We now face a tough period ahead, and we will need everyone. I’m happy with the positive atmosphere in the team, and while we must continue progressing, these victories are well deserved,” said Turan. “I also want to wish Beşiktaş success in the Conference League, and I hope we don’t meet there. Turkey needs to succeed at all levels, and I genuinely wish them success,” he added.
Beşiktaş is a new team, and Turan noted that it is difficult to talk about its weaknesses at this stage. “I have great respect for Beşiktaş and Coach Solskjær. This is a new team, with new players coming in and some leaving. To change something, patience is required. As for us, we prepared thoroughly for this match, and I don’t think it’s necessary to focus on Beşiktaş’s weaknesses. I believe they have a strong squad and can achieve success in the future,” concluded the Shakhtar head coach.
