Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as a man without emotions who approaches his role like a killer. He shared this during the BBC documentary “Zelensky: The Story,” reports Baltimore Chronicle, with reference to BBC film.

Zelensky recalled a long one-on-one meeting with Putin in December 2019 in France. According to the Ukrainian leader, what stood out most was Putin’s complete lack of humanity or emotional expression. “He’s not human in the sense of humanity. That’s not what I’m talking about. He just does his job. Without emotion. Like a killer. Yes. It’s just a job,” Zelensky stated.

He also emphasized that Putin told numerous lies during their conversation. In contrast, Zelensky noted that for him, the presidency is part of his life — a reflection of his genuine love for Ukraine, a desire for peace, and a wish to be remembered with respect. “That’s all. But it’s only a part of my life. For Putin, it’s war and his entire life,” the Ukrainian president added.

Zelensky further stated that Putin has no intention of ending the war and continues to plan further aggression against Ukraine. Nevertheless, joint efforts by Ukraine and its allies have already created major strategic problems for Russia.

“Due to sanctions, Russia has no promising future. But sadly, it still has the capacity to continue the war, so we must increase pressure together,” Zelensky stressed.

The president also warned that Putin’s ambitions go beyond Ukraine. According to him, the Kremlin’s goals include the occupation of Belarus, the Baltic states, Moldova, the Caucasus, and other neighboring regions. Zelensky believes these imperialist motives are deeply rooted in Putin’s ideological upbringing.

“He wants all of Ukraine, and not just since 2014, but for a long time — he was shaped this way by Russian imperialism. And when he speaks about Ukraine and the feet of Russian soldiers, he is also speaking about Belarus, the Baltic states, Moldova, the Caucasus, and every place on Earth where Russian killers can reach,” the head of state concluded.
