Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that next week a “European track” of negotiations on security guarantees will begin. According to him, the meetings will be held at the level of heads of state in order to finalize joint approaches to this process, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the official briefing.
Zelensky made this statement on August 29 during a press briefing. He emphasized that Ukraine seeks coordinated decisions with its partners, and therefore the talks will take place at several international platforms.
The President clarified that the discussions will involve not only representatives of the so-called “Washington Group” but also a number of European leaders. According to him, this format is intended to ensure the alignment of positions among key allies.
Zelensky also stressed that Ukraine is already actively working on bilateral agreements on security guarantees. So far, 18 countries have joined the process, and the first agreement was signed with the United States.
