The Hungarian prosecutor’s office reported the arrest of a man who attempted to organize the assassination of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Index. According to the investigation, the man, detained in July 2025, posted an online advertisement seeking “the best hired killer” for Orbán. He promised payment in forints or another currency for carrying out the task.
After conducting the investigation, law enforcement identified the suspect, arrested him, and took him into custody. The suspect was interrogated as someone preparing to commit a crime — the murder of the prime minister with aggravating circumstances. The man confessed to his involvement in the plot.
The regional prosecutor’s office in Budapest submitted a request to the court for the suspect’s arrest, considering the risk of the crime being repeated. The court is expected to make a decision soon, with reference to sources.
