The head of Estonia, Alar Karis, explained why the West is raising the topic of a truce between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in the war. The politician believes that there are interest groups that want to destroy the unity of European states on this issue.
During a press conference with Vladimir Zelensky, the Estonian president said that in the West, during informal meetings, they talk about a truce in the Russian-Ukrainian war in order to find out the mood, NBN reports.
Karis emphasized that Tallinn shares the same opinion as Kiev: peace in Ukraine will come when it wins the war against the Russian occupiers.
The President is convinced that pressure regarding negotiations between Kiev and Moscow will not bring results until there is unity among allies in Europe and beyond.
The politician noted that there are interest groups that seek a split between Ukraine’s partners, and such countries cannot be allowed to achieve their goal.
Earlier, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky explained why the Russian leadership is signaling its readiness for negotiations with Kiev.
