Last night, on the seventeenth, the Ukrainian Defense Forces used the FrankenSAM project air defense system for the first time in combat conditions. During the first use of this weapon, the defense forces were able to destroy an enemy UAV from a distance of nine kilometers.

As NBN reports, the Minister for Strategic Industry of Ukraine Alexander Kamyshin announced this at the Davos Forum today.
In particular, he noted that this was the first use of the FrankenSAM system, adding that all these systems have already been deployed “on the battlefield.”
Verbatim from his statement:
Instead of developing some kind of air defense system from scratch, which could have taken many years, we took Soviet components and applied Western missiles to it. Or, on the contrary, they took launchers in the West and used Soviet missiles on them.
He added that on January 17, Ukrainian military personnel successfully used this system.
Today we shot down the Shahed nine kilometers away. I am very glad that we deployed it on the battlefield, protecting our skies and our people., — Kamyshin summed up.
