The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense commented on the material of the German publication Bild about the Bundeswehr’s preparation for a hybrid attack by the Russian Federation on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance. The department assessed the threat of an attack by an aggressor country on NATO.
The Lithuanian Defense Ministry, commenting on the publication of German journalists, said that the Russian Federation does not have the resources to open a second front, NBN reports with reference by Delfi.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense believes that until the fighting on Ukrainian territory has ended, it is difficult to assume that the terrorist state will redistribute priorities and begin to build up forces in other directions.
The department noted that the Russians retain significant capacity and regularly replenish them at the front line in Ukraine. Today, the Russian Federation’s priority is not to be defeated in a war against a neighboring state, to which the Kremlin is directing certain resources.
Note that at the same time, Estonia believes that there is a military threat to NATO from Russia. Head of Government Kaya Kallas told how many years the organization's member countries have to prepare for Russian aggression against the Alliance.
