The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine told the details of the special operation to destroy three Tu-22 aircraft of the “second army of the world” at the Soltsy airfield in the Novgorod region of the Russian Federation, during which Ukraine suffered losses.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the MOU reported details of the liquidation of three Tu-22 aircraft of the Russian Federation at the Soltsy airfield in August last year. During the special operation, the commander of the reconnaissance group, Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Babiy, was killed, NBN reports.
GUR fighters made their way deep behind enemy lines, traveling more than 600 kilometers through the territory of the aggressor country to complete the task of destroying the aircraft of the “second army” peace” at a military airfield. The reconnaissance officers were able to “demilitarize” one Tu-22 and disable two more aircraft.
Returning to Ukrainian territory, the detachment was ambushed by the invaders. During the battle on August 30, Babiy died. The lieutenant colonel was mortally wounded while covering the retreat of his fighters.
The reconnaissance commander, who successfully completed his last mission – stopping numerous enemy air strikes on our cities – was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star.
Recall that details of the drone attack on an oil depot in St. Petersburg have become known. The media stated that the GUR was behind the special operation.
