The Forbes article notes that the Russian Armed Forces intend to recapture Kupyansk before the “re-election” of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin in March. To do this, the enemy concentrated about 40,000 invaders, 50 tanks and 600 combat vehicles in the city area, NBN reports.
The head of the Kharkov OVA, Oleg Sinegubov, commenting on the statements of foreign journalists, recalled that “the second army of the world ” has been advancing near Kupyansk since February 2022.
The official explained that this direction is strategically important for the invaders; here they use all the weapons they have. He added that the Russian Armed Forces have been advancing on all sectors of the front for more than six months and the Defense Forces have been successfully repelling assaults. In addition, the defenders are constantly strengthening the defense capability of the Kharkov region and are preparing for any development of events.
In turn, the head of the Center for Operations of the National Security and Defense Council Andrei Kovalenko said that media data about the accumulation of Russian forces near the city differ from reality. The lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that at the same time, the West must realize the seriousness of the situation on the battlefield, in particular those who decide to help Ukraine.
