Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov commented on the loss of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. The lieutenant general told how the situation at the front would change after the capture of the city and whether the “second army of the world” would be able to achieve the main strategic goal.

In an interview with the American edition of The Wall Street Journal, the military leader recalled that it took Putin’s army almost two years of attacks from the beginning of a full-scale invasion, and taking into account the fighting in Ukraine since 2014, it will take 10 years to capture Avdiivka.
The general asked whether the occupation of the city was a great and powerful success for the Russian Armed Forces, NBN reports.
According to Budanov, the situation is now difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front, since Putin’s troops have superiority in numbers and weapons. At the same time, not everything is so smooth for the invaders.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reminded that the defenders “demilitarized” the professional army of the Russian Federation in the first year of the great war, so now the command of the Russian Armed Forces is throwing untrained mobilized soldiers onto the battlefield.
Also, the “liberators” use more artillery ammunition than the aggressor country can produce. In addition, as Budanov noted, rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities have stopped in recent weeks, as the enemy has run out of supplies of these weapons.
All this does not contribute to the achievement of Putin’s army’s main strategic goal this year – the complete seizure of the territories of the Donetsk region and Lugansk region.
The general also named the condition for launching a new counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces next year.
