The specialist does not advise pursuing sterility in the kitchen, but more often wash and change certain items that are a breeding ground for germs, reports NBN with reference to the portal “Take care of yourself.”
According to the expert, every day you need to change kitchen towels, which are used for wiping less than clean hands, food, dishes, and spills. As a result, these products contribute to the spread of pathogenic microbes.
Livinskaya noted that wet kitchen sponges soaked in food debris are also an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria. It is important to wash these items very well, dry them and change them at least once a week.
The microbiologist advises having separate cutting boards for meat, fish and eggs, because these products may contain potentially dangerous bacteria. Also, these kitchen items should be washed thoroughly after use.
The specialist added that microbes multiply slowly in the refrigerator, but mold can often appear there. To prevent food from spoiling, you need to regularly clean it and throw away stale dishes.
