In an interview with Ukrinform, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Ukrainian defenders had to leave Avdiivka because The Russian invaders had a significant advantage in the forces and means of the assault units, NBN reports.
According to the military leader, Putin’s army constantly covered the city with KABs, which violated the integrity of the Ukrainian defense. This allowed the occupiers to gradually move forward.
Also, as Syrsky noted, one of the reasons for the defenders’ withdrawal from Avdiivka was the lack of artillery shells. Due to the shortage of such ammunition, the Defense Forces could not conduct an effective counter-battery fight.
The general explained that he wanted to avoid encirclement of the soldiers and save their lives, so he decided to withdraw the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the city. During these battles, unfortunately, more than 25 defenders were captured.
The military leader recalled that at the same time, the offensive of the “second army of the world” on Avdievka resulted in significant losses for it in 47 186 invaders. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that this is unlikely to be talked about on Russian television.
Earlier, the 3rd Brigade reported on the situation in the Avdeevka area, telling where Russian troops were trying to advance.
