As NBN reports with reference to Reuters material, at the moment when the boat with South Korean athletes was moving along the Seine at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics, the announcer introduced the team as representatives of the “Democratic People's Republic of Korea”, to which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has already responded.
In particular, IOC functionaries said that they consider this incident a gross mistake, and at the same time offer “deep apologies”.

We regret that the country was presented as North Korea at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games when athletes from the Republic of Korea were entering.
It should be noted that it was quite difficult to allow such an inaccuracy, since the South Korean delegation consists of 143 athletes, and North Korea – only 16 athletes.
