The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry in an interview with Visegrad Insight said that the position of the Hungarian authorities irritates other members of the European Union. In addition, the country appears isolated in the organization when it asks other EU countries for solidarity on the issue of “black gold” supplies.
According to the diplomat, Budapest is not receiving this solidarity because it is difficult to make friends by broadcasting egoism, NBN reports.
The minister noted that the event also included a discussion regarding the location of one of the EU Foreign Ministers' Council meetings – in the capital of Hungary or Belgium.
Sikorski said that he proposed a compromise option – to hold the meeting in Ukraine, for example, in Lviv or Mukachevo. According to him, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry initially greeted this initiative with enthusiasm. The Warsaw representative added that two years ago, an EU Council meeting was held in the Ukrainian capital.
As reported, the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's administration accused Ukraine of “blackmail” by banning the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
