Kretschmer called on Berlin to stop providing military aid to Ukraine. The head of Saxony is convinced that his country has allegedly reached the limit of its capabilities in this matter, NBN reports with reference to Die Zeit.
According to the politician, it is important to support Kyiv, but Germany “must be aware of its limits.” He believes that his country allegedly cannot continue to allocate funding for weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “so that it is spent and does not give anything.”
The Prime Minister recalled that from the beginning of the full-scale war, he opposed providing military aid to Ukrainians, calling for a diplomatic settlement of the war. The head of Saxony believes that it will end not on the battlefield, but in negotiations.
It should be noted that in 2023, Kretschmer called on Kyiv to come to terms with the temporary loss of regions captured by the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the country will not cede territory to the aggressor and explained what the scenario proposed by the head of Saxony threatens for Germany.
