Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has revealed details of the secret indirect negotiations that Kyiv held with Moscow in 2022.

The head of the Ukrainian defense ministry said in an interview with the American publication The Washington Post that in In 2022, Kyiv conducted secret negotiations with Moscow through international partners, NBN reports.
According to the official, the negotiation process with the aggressor country had several directions. Umerov noted that Washington was always aware of contacts with the Russian Federation, since the Ukrainian side regularly held consultations on all issues.
The head of the Ministry of Defense revealed that the result of secret indirect negotiations with Russia was the creation of a humanitarian corridor, which allowed 400,000 citizens of our country to leave the temporarily occupied territories.
In addition, Ukraine achieved the exchange of prisoners of war, political prisoners and wounded soldiers, and export routes for agricultural products in the Black Sea were restored thanks to the signing of the “grain agreement”.
Recall that political analyst Vitaly Portnikov named the prerequisites for the start of real negotiations on ending the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
