As reported by NBN, citing the official YouTube channel of the OPU, President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that some Ukrainians will soon be forced to return to their homeland, since the European Union will stop providing social benefits to citizens under temporary protection.
According to Zelensky, the return of Ukrainians is a very complex issue, since sometimes our refugees are “not very happy to see abroad.” However, the President of Ukraine added that the return is not part of the “internal plan” to strengthen our country, since some EU states are counting on the Ukrainian “labor force.”
Zelensky emphasized:
Ukrainians who do not work abroad, they [the governments of the EU member states] are looking for a way to force them to return to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that in Germany, out of 1.1 million Ukrainians, at least 300,000 people do not work anywhere, and do not even strive to find a job, and “there are many of them throughout Europe.”
Zelensky summarized:
One way or another, this part of Ukrainians will return, because social payments and support that exist abroad will disappear. They will disappear not thanks to you and me. Countries will simply stop helping them.
