As reported by NBN, citing a report from the Russian publication Mediazona, during the third quarter of this year, more than 3,765 North Korean citizens arrived in the Russian Federation, allegedly for “training,” which is a record.
According to data from the FSB Border Service, published by Rosstat, throughout 2019, 3,200 North Koreans entered the territory of the aggressor country, stating that the purpose of their trip was “training.”
At the same time, the number of quota places for North Korean students remains quite low: according to official information, only 130 DPRK citizens previously studied at Russian universities. In addition, for the 2025 academic year, based on information from the Russian Ministry of Education, slightly more than 100 applications from North Koreans have been submitted.
Thus, the increase in the number of students from North Korea in the Russian Federation directly confirms the dispatch of soldiers from the DPRK to participate in the war against Ukraine.
