As NBN reports with reference to PCWorld, a similar unpleasant situation occurs when trying to work in Word and Excel, which effectively become “inoperative” in the above case.
In particular, the 24H2 update creates difficulties with connecting to the network, including the appearance of a “blue screen of death” and unsuccessful attempts to make fixes that simply fail to install. The problem is caused by the CrowdStrike Falcon antivirus, which has several “innovative” algorithms built in to ensure cybersecurity – if the Enhanced Exploitation Visibility Prevention Policy functionality is enabled in the HOST protection policy settings, then Microsoft Office cannot be launched.
Microsoft developers have added “devices” with a pre-installed “dangerous” antivirus to the list of blocked ones so that PCs do not receive the 24H2 update package. At the same time, CrowdStrike also temporarily disabled Enhanced Exploitation Visibility Prevention Policy for users who encountered the problem, which only slightly helped to fix the situation until a full fix was released.
