The Ombudsman, speaking about the killings of captured defenders by the occupiers, said that the Russians are doing this deliberately. According to him, such tactics are aimed at “tying Putin's soldiers with blood” so that they do not surrender, NBN reports with reference to Radio Liberty.
Lubinets noted that by executing Ukrainian prisoners of war, the Russian Federation is also trying to destroy the current system of international humanitarian law, showing that it does not exist.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights clarified that this system needs to be changed and during these changes, Moscow will promote its interests, for example, increasing the number of permanent members of the UN Security Council among the states that support the Russian Federation.
The ombudsman added that only a strong sanctions blow to the economy of the aggressor country can stop Russia's aggression; everything else does not work against it, which Ukraine's foreign partners need to understand.
Earlier, Lubinets named the reasons for the return of displaced persons to temporarily captured territories and frontline settlements.
