As a result of the destruction of the Ukrainian energy system by the massive combined strikes of the Russian Federation, power outage schedules have been introduced in our country, due to which, among other things, the connection to the Internet is lost.

As reported by “NBN” with a link to an explanation published in the official Telegram profile of the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, home Wi-Fi will be able to function stably during a power outage if the user changes the provider to one that extends xPON (passive fiber optic network).
In particular, if the Internet provider has managed to lay a passive fiber optic network to the apartment/house, it is enough to connect the Wi-Fi router and ONU modem to the powerbank to gain access to the “normal” Internet.
The easiest way to find out if this optical technology is available in your home is to familiarize yourself with the “Internet map” of the current during power outages/find a neighbor who has already connected this stable service.
However, for mobile Internet traffic, a universal solution similar to xPON does not currently exist, but the Ministry of Digital Development is working with domestic operators so that they do not stop providing services during power outages.
