On his Facebook page, Shvets spoke about the extreme OMAD (one meal a day) diet, which involves strict dietary restrictions, the NBN publication reports.
As the gastroenterologist explained, intermittent fasting involves eating at certain times, but in the OMAD diet, the “eating window” is reduced to one hour a day, which can be a real test for the body.
This nutritional system does indeed promote weight loss, but, as the doctor explained, it can cause metabolic stress – a person begins to overeat due to prolonged fasting, trying to compensate for the lack of food. Also, with such a diet, you will not get all the necessary calories and nutrients needed for physical activity.
According to the nutritionist, you can use less strict approaches to losing weight, for example, eating between sunset and sunrise, finishing meals before 6-7 pm, and also preparing protein-rich breakfasts.
Shvets advises adapting the meal schedule to your physical needs and daily routine, and approaching the OMAD diet carefully, taking into account the individual characteristics of the body.
