British TV channel Sky News, citing unnamed diplomats, reported that EU ambassadors failed to agree on The 15th package of sanctions against the aggressor country, the NBN publication reports.
According to sources, two states blocked the decision to introduce coercive measures against Russia, so the decision was not made. Representatives of these countries took this step due to disagreements over the issue of extending the deadline given to EU companies to withdraw investments from Russia.
Journalists clarified that the ambassadors will later return to discussing a new package of sanctions against Russia.
The media learned that as part of the new coercive measures against the terrorist state, the issue of extending the exemption that allows the Czech Republic to continue importing diesel fuel and other products obtained from Russia's “black gold” and produced at an oil refinery in Slovakia was raised.
Bratislava wants to preserve this exemption, which expired on December 5, while Prague is against it.
Earlier, journalists found out which three countries still do not support inviting Ukraine to NATO.
