On Thursday, December 19, during the 21st “Direct Line”, Kremlin dictator stated that Moscow does not have the conditions for starting negotiations, but they should be based on the draft agreements that were prepared in Istanbul in the first weeks of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the NBN publication reports, citing the BBC.
According to him, the Kremlin will sign an agreement only with the legitimate government of the neighboring state, and the Russian leadership does not recognize Zelensky as legitimate. The dictator said that he will talk to the Ukrainian president only after he runs for office and is re-elected as head of the country.
At the same time, Putin recalled that Moscow considers the parliament and the Verkhovna Rada to be the legitimate government in the neighboring country, so the peace treaty can be signed by the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
Recall that Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that European allies are not helping Ukraine enough for it to be ready to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russian Federation. The head of state is convinced that it is too early for Kyiv to begin a dialogue with the aggressor about ending the war.
