Not long ago, the US Treasury Department announced that its servers had been hacked by a Chinese hacker group, which gained access to unclassified documentation.

As reported by “NBN” citing sources from The Washington Post, Chinese cyberterrorists have hacked an office in the US Treasury Department that administers economic sanctions against a number of countries and groups of individuals.
As it became known, the cyberattack affected the most powerful tool that Washington has for achieving national security goals, and the following were hacked:
- Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC);
- Office of Financial Research;
- Office of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
As sources note, this attack indicates Beijing’s determination to disclose intelligence data regarding the growing rivalry in the global struggle for the section on spheres of power and influence, in order to find out in advance which Chinese organizations the US government might impose financial restrictions on.
