On Tuesday, December 31, the top management of Karpaty and Rukh announced that in the 2025/2026 season the rosters of players will merge into one, with the goal of developing the first of the aforementioned clubs, which will become Lviv’s key team.

As NBN reports with reference to the Tribuna material, the management of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) has spoken out about the above-described statement of Lviv's Karpaty and Rukh.
Based on the words of high-ranking domestic functionaries, the UPL has not received any preliminary notifications about such plans of Lviv clubs, including the justification for such requests to football officials directly related to the settlement of this controversial issue.
The UPL's commentary is as follows:
…We have not received any official requests from clubs to the Ukrainian Premier League regarding the information on the websites of FC Karpaty and FC Rukh about their intentions to merge at the end of the 2024/25 season.
