In an interview for the Espresso TV channel, Bessmertny said that in difficult situations with China and the DPRK, when Trump could not decide anything “at the first jump,” the Republican chose to distance himself from the situation.
The diplomat fears that the newly elected American president may behave in a similar way with regard to the problem of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war, writes the NBN publication.
According to him, the 47th US President may distance himself from achieving peace in our country if he sees that he is unable to achieve a speedy end to military actions.
The historian drew attention to the fact that the corresponding policy of the newly elected head of the White House is already making itself felt – that is, the Republican is stepping aside, starting to hand out orders in the style of “let Recep Erdogan meet with Kim Jong-un”, “let the leadership of the PRC meet with the President of the Philippines”, etc.
Bessmertny recalled that after his visit to the capital of France and meetings at the opening of Notre Dame Cathedral, Trump threw out the phrase in his social network Truth Social that “China will help”. The question arises as to who Beijing will help and what its participation in the relevant process is.
The diplomat believes that in reality neither Trump nor his team know what to do and how to do it, they have no plan for Ukraine, so they are starting to fantasize about what the Russian Federation is using.
Recall that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said in his New Year's address that Trump will be able to stop the fighting in our country and will help achieve peace.
