Political analyst and journalist Vitaly Portnikov named the condition for ending the war and spoke about the role of the newly elected US President Donald Trump in this process.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Portnikov said that the war in our country could end “according to a simple formula that does not require Trump” – the destruction of the resources of the Russian Federation or Ukraine, or both sides, writes “NBN”.
According to him, it is important for Ukraine that the resource for conducting military operations runs out in the Russian Federation. Otherwise, our statehood will disappear along with the Ukrainian national presence on these lands.
The analyst said that the newly elected American leader has real tools to force Moscow to end the war, for example, to stop supplying military aid to Kyiv. Trump does not care that this will be the dismantling of Ukrainian statehood, since he has other security-related challenges.
Another tool of the 47th US President is the transfer of new weapons to Kyiv, more F-16 fighters, permission for American pilots to fly these aircraft and the creation of US bases with the use of nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory. In this case, the Kremlin dictator can begin negotiations to freeze hostilities, at least along the line of contact.
Portnikov added that telephone conversations between the American leader and Putin or Zelensky are not an important means of ending Russian aggression and are not an instrument of pressure.
Recall that the diplomat explained why Trump can distance himself from the problem of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.
