As reported by NBN with reference to the material of RBC-Ukraine, according to the candidate of economic sciences Alexander Khmelevsky, this year the gas transportation system (GTS) of Ukraine will become unprofitable, since the volume of gas “pumping” has significantly decreased recently (from 41.7 billion cubic meters in 2021 to 15.4 billion cubic meters in 2024).
The expert economist believes that the national GTS Operator received a significant share of profits from the transit of “blue fuel”: we are talking about 800 million dollars, which amounted to at least 85 percent of all income of the enterprise over the past two years.
Based on the words of Khmelevsky, the stoppage of pumping Russian gas against the background of increased tariffs will provoke a shortfall in funds for the GTS Operator, which will negatively will affect the industry and the economic sector of Ukraine as a whole:
For Ukrainian enterprises supplying gas through the GTS, expenses will increase significantly, which means they will accordingly raise tariffs for consumers.
Earlier, our information portal wrote that an expert predicted a noticeable increase in the price of motor fuel in Ukraine from January 10.
