During the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers assessed the possibility of realizing the threats of the Slovak Prime Minister to stop exporting electricity to our country, the NBN publication reports.
According to him, as soon as the representative of Bratislava made the corresponding statement, the Ministry of Energy immediately contacted the European Commission, the European Integrated Energy Network and the Energy Community, from which “there was a reaction.”
Shmyhal responded that it would be difficult for Fico to implement his threats due to technical circumstances. The head of government explained that Slovakia and its energy network are part of the integrated one. That is, if Bratislava closes its entrances to Ukraine, according to the rules of the unified market, the corresponding volume of electricity will be redistributed between other supplier states.
Therefore, as the head of the Cabinet noted, the corresponding decision will not be made by the Slovakian operator, but by the unified energy network, the work of which is controlled by the European Commission.
The Prime Minister recalled that Poland and other neighboring countries have expressed their readiness to supply Ukraine with electricity if necessary, so there is no threat of limiting import volumes.
Earlier, Warsaw criticized Fico's behavior and declared its readiness to supply Ukraine with more electricity.
