As reported by “NBN” with reference to an exclusive material from RBC-Ukraine, the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command (former speaker) Colonel Yuriy Ignat explained why, despite the successful “landing” of enemy ballistics, Kyiv's civilian infrastructure suffered significant damage.

Based on Ignat's words, the ballistic type of missiles is an extremely difficult target to intercept. At the same time, both such missiles aimed at Kiev “were shot down.” However, since one munition was destroyed at a low altitude, the blast wave caused large-scale consequences.

In addition, the military emphasized that despite the effective shooting down, parts of the destroyed missiles do not disappear in the air, and necessarily fall to the ground, causing “serious consequences.” Also, the missile's warhead can detonate after falling, which sometimes “happens.”

Earlier, we wrote that the State Emergency Service showed the consequences of the Russian strike on the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
