As NBN reports with reference to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) material, the “second army of the world” is creating a “striking fist” south of Pokrovsk, which probably indicates a change in the plans of the Russian Federation regarding tactical priorities.
ISW analysts note that Putin's central group of troops has concentrated strike forces consisting of units of the 2nd and 41st combined arms armies south of the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region. In addition, the formations of the 15th and 30th motorized rifle brigades, as well as the 348th motorized rifle regiment, are currently resting and recovering in the rear areas in the Pokrovsk direction, and, judging by everything, are awaiting redeployment.
The Institute for the Study of War added that the Russian generals can redeploy the said units to areas located south of Pokrovsk if they maintain the priority of carrying out tactical offensives in the direction of the southern flanks of this city, which will happen in the short term, – “in the coming weeks and months.”
