Portnikov commented on Donald Trump's speech at his inauguration on January 20. According to him, the statements of the 47th US President about the “return” of the Panama Canal to the States are a bid for war in Latin America and the seizure of the territory of a sovereign state, the NBN publication reports.
The journalist claims that the implementation of the American leader's plans actually legitimizes all further decisions of the Kremlin dictator regarding Ukraine and other former republics of the USSR, as well as China's decisions regarding Taiwan.
The political analyst added that the head of the White House in his inauguration speech created all the conditions for imperialist encroachment by authoritarian states.
It should be noted that after Trump's speech, who stated that the PRC allegedly exploits and manages the Panama Canal, Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino rejected the corresponding statement. The politician called for dialogue on the issue to clarify the points mentioned without undermining the sovereignty of his country.
Earlier, Portnikov spoke about the expectations of the 47th American president and the Kremlin dictator from their upcoming meeting.
