Last week, Georgescu said that if he wins the presidential election, then he will advocate the “return” of Romanian territories as a result of the “division” of Ukraine after negotiations with the Russian Federation to end the war. Now the politician has tried to justify his pro-Russian statements.
This was reported by the NBN publication with reference to Digi24.
According to him, when speaking about the “division” of Ukraine and Romania's claims to its territories, he meant an “absolutely theoretical hypothesis.” Georgescu criticized the politicians who condemned his statements, calling them “short-sighted,” “hypocritical,” and “two-faced.”
The presidential candidate once again said that “the world is changing” and we need to “learn from historical experience.” He recalled the period of World War II, noting that at that time his country “made many mistakes” and did not know how to position itself. Georgescu noted that as a result, “Great Romania became Little Romania.”
Recall that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded sharply to the pro-Russian statements of the Romanian politician.
