As reported by NBN with reference to the analytical material of the EastFruit project, during this week, due to the increase in consumer demand, the selling price of carrots rose to 27-34 hryvnia/kilogram, which is, on average, 10 percent more than was recorded 7 days earlier.
The increase in wholesale prices for carrots was caused by several factors at once:
- the root crop is actively bought up by both wholesale companies and retail chains, which contributes to price increases;
- The supply of quality vegetables on the market is somewhat limited, as agricultural enterprises have suspended sales, expecting further price increases.
Despite the fact that carrots in Ukrainian stores are now, on average, 3.6 times more expensive than they were in the same period in 2024, market participants believe that the price growth trend is temporary.
