A representative of Zelensky's office in an interview with the Italian publication La Repubblica stated that martial law will not be lifted in Ukraine and elections will not be held, even if a decision is made to cease fire for 30 days.

The official explained that a short-term ceasefire with the Russian Federation does not equal the end of the war, writes NBN.

In addition, during the ceasefire, the situation in Ukraine will remain unpredictable – in such conditions it is impossible to guarantee the safety of citizens at polling stations.

Therefore, the 30-day ceasefire proposed by the US will not unblock the elections. Voting will be possible if negotiations on a stable ceasefire, guaranteed by neutral observers, begin.

Speaking about Putin's statements regarding the ceasefire, the adviser to the head of the OPU noted that the Kremlin dictator made it clear that he intends to continue the war. Podolyak added that the Russian Federation must show its true attitude to the negotiation process and the end of hostilities.

As reported, ISW analysts spoke about the risks posed by the Russian leader's alternative ceasefire agreement.
