As NBN reports with reference to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) material, in the manner described above, the Russian leadership is seeking to discredit the Ukrainian Armed Forces, while simultaneously undermining Western countries’ support for Ukraine.

According to ISW analysts, Putin intends to use these theses, groundlessly calling the Defense Forces of our country “brutal war criminals”, in order to disrupt or delay the negotiation process with the United States aimed at signing agreements on a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian dictator wants to present himself as a “merciful leader”.

In addition, representatives of the ultra-nationalist community of the Russian Federation are disseminating similar statements by Putin and similar rhetoric by Russian state media regarding alleged war crimes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk region, trying to more actively support calls for the rejection of any version of agreements providing for a ceasefire in Ukraine, and also justifying the executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war on the battlefield by “liberators” (at least 109 executions of Ukrainians have been recorded).

Earlier we wrote about how ISW reported on which sections of the front Putin’s army advanced in a day (as of March 15).
