The Agency. News publication reported that the Kremlin dictator entrusted negotiations with US representatives to two conflicting teams of negotiators – the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.
The fact that the teams do not get along well with each other is evidenced by an incident that occurred during the first round of negotiations between Moscow and Washington in the capital of Saudi Arabia, writes NBN.
The head of the Kremlin said that the Russian delegation consisted of two people – Lavrov and his assistant Yuri Ushakov. According to the source, after this Dmitriev asked Putin to allow him to take part in the negotiations. The dictator allowed it, but forgot to warn the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the changes.
The diplomat was surprised to see three chairs for Russian officials in the negotiating room. When he was told that the third seat was for the head of the RDIF, he moved the chair away, saying that if Dmitriev wanted to participate, Putin should tell him about it.
The journalists' interlocutor added that the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund was able to sit down at the negotiating table when Lavrov left the room during one of the technical breaks. When he returned, the minister saw that Dmitriev was already at the table.
Recall that according to media reports, the head of the RDIF met with Trump's special representative Steve Witkoff in the US capital. Earlier, journalists reported that the Russian official would visit Washington.
