On December 7, Paris witnessed a significant event – the opening of the restored Notre Dame Cathedral, which suffered from a fire in the spring of 2019, reports WomanEL.
The ceremony was attended by about 50 world leaders and celebrities. Among the guests were French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prince William, US President-elect Donald Trump, and actress Salma Hayek with her husband, businessman François-Henri Pinault, who donated 100 million euros to restore the cathedral. The ceremony was also attended by billionaire Elon Musk and many other prominent figures.
In addition, a pleasant surprise was the performance of Pharrell Williams, who performed his hit “Happy”.
Security on the Île de la Cité, where Notre Dame is located, was provided by 1,500 law enforcement officers. Today, the cathedral was supposed to hold its first Sunday mass for a limited number of people, after which the week of services will be available to all who wish.
The restoration of the cathedral was completed in a record time of 5 years.
