The other day, the prestigious Serhiy Parajanov National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine award ceremony took place at the House of Cinema. However, the event gained resonance not only because of the awards, but also because of the scandal that arose during the performance of People's Artist of Ukraine Larisa Kadochnikova, known for her role in the film “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”, writes WomanEL.
The 87-year-old actress refused to speak Ukrainian during her speech, stating that she has the right to communicate in any language. According to her, she performs in Ukrainian only in the theater, and uses Russian outside of it.

Kadochnikova's position caused a mixed reaction. Some people present in the hall supported her by applauding and shouting “bravo”, others condemned such expressions. At the same time, the writer Larisa Nitsoi sharply criticized the actress, calling her “Ukrainophobe” and condemning her refusal to speak Ukrainian in public, especially in the conditions of the war, which was unleashed by Russia. Nisoi emphasized that such an attitude towards the Ukrainian language is irresponsible, and by applauding Kadochnikova, those present in the hall actually supported the Russian position.

By dragging the “Russian world” into Ukraine all her life, popularizing its language, after which the tanks came? By performing roles in films in Moscow, speaking everywhere in public in Moscow, communicating with everyone in Moscow, stepping onto the stage to present an award in Moscow, and only occasionally using Ukrainian where the law cannot be circumvented – in performances.
