The first half of the meeting passed without goals. In the second half, the hosts took the lead – Nicolas Dominguez scored in the 64th minute.
In the 78th minute, the Mancunians got even – Nottingham goalkeeper Matt Turner made a blunder, Alejandro Garnacho passed the ball to Marcus Rashford, who sent the ball into the far corner.
The Red Devils continued to attack and, as a result, missed a quick counter-attack from the opponent – Anthony Elanga rolled the ball into the center from the right flank, and Morgan Gibbs-White fired an accurate shot into the bottom right corner.
Erik ten Hag's team failed to equalize the score for the second time and avoid defeat.
