On the night of March 9, as part of the eighth stage of the Biathlon World Cup 2023/24 in the American Salt Lake City, a women's sprint race took place.
Ukraine was to be represented by five athletes: Anastasia Merkushina, Kristina Dmitrenko, Yulia Dzhima, Irina Petrenko and Anna Krivonos. However, Petrenko and Krivonos did not start for unknown reasons.
The best result among Ukrainian women in the sprint was shown by Jima, who finished 33rd. In addition to her, Dmitrenko qualified for the pursuit race and became 55th. Merkushina took 64th place and will miss the pursuit.
The Frenchwoman Justine Breza Boucher won the sprint. The second was the Norwegian Ingrid-Landmark Tandrevold, and the top 3 was completed by Lou Jeanmonnot from France.
