Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua commented on his brilliant victory over the ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
In the main fight of the boxing evening, which took place on the night of March 9 in Saudi Arabia, the Briton brutally knocked out the MMA fighter in the second round, before thereby knocking him down twice.
In an interview with Sky Sports after his victory, AJ stated that he wants to fight with the winner of the Usyk-Fury fight for the title of absolute world champion.
“That's the thing about boxing. In the heavyweight division, you only need one punch. You always have to keep looking for the best. For me, I don't know if I've reached my peak. I just keep working day after day.
Who knows where this will take me. Imagine in five years I won't be fighting anymore. Everything will be said and done. So now I want to make the most of it,” Joshua said.
When Anthony was asked if his goal was to meet the winner of the fight between Usyk and Fury in the ring, he replied: “Yes.”
The victory over Ngannou was Joshua’s 28th in the professional ring (25 by knockout) . The 34-year-old Briton won his fourth fight in a row after two defeats from Ukrainian Oleksandr Usik, which deprived him of the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF world champion belts.
Recall that Ngannou fought in his previous fight on the night of October 29 2023 Lost by split decision to WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury. In the third round, Francis knocked down the “Gypsy King,” but the judges named the Briton the winner of the fight.
